Welcome to Student Loan Support Center. I opened Bankruptcy Bodyguard in Fort Myers, Florida, and have been successfully representing clients with non-student loan debt for years. It’s very hard to discharge student loan debt in bankruptcy. So, I expanded my practice to provide student loan assistance to help those who are struggling with student loan debt.
The total amount of student loan debt in the United States today exceeds $1.2 trillion – yes, that’s with a “T”, not a “B”. It is estimated that new graduates with student loans will have an average debt of $35,000.00. That amount skyrockets if a student continues on to graduate school, medical school or law school. And after six months from graduation, the former student is expected to start paying back the loans. With a still weakened economy, finding a job to start paying those loans is tough.
My goal is to assist not only newly-graduated students, but all former students successfully manage their student loan debt. The consequences of defaulting on student loan debt can be disastrous. Not only can your credit get ruined, but you can be have your wages garnished without even a lawsuit being filed and your tax refunds can be offset to pay your loans.
Probably the most important thing to do to succeed in paying your loans is to get into the repayment plan that benefits you most. There are several payment plans to choose from, but if you don’t make a choice your loan servicer will put you on a ten-year standard repayment plan. What you should know is that there are several income-based repayment plans may allow you to pay a lower monthly payment. There are also loan forgiveness programs that may be available. Unfortunately, the lenders and servicers don’t do a good job educating borrowers about all of their options.
If you’re struggling to pay your student loans or just want to start on the right path to repay your student loans, give Student Loan Support Center a call. I will sit down with you, analyze your situation and clearly explain all of the options you have. Just call me at (239) 362-2755.
